Privacy Policy

KICA respects its members’ privacy.  To that end, we want to explain our privacy policy regarding information exchanged online.  The board of directors reserves the right, in its discretion, to make exceptions to this privacy policy and to amend it at any time. When you visit KICA’s website or subscribe to KICA’s Internet mail list (kicalist@kica.us) or member message forum, you are accepting the terms of the privacy statement below.

Privacy Statement

KICA collects the personal information of its members in various ways, including correspondence through the U.S. Mail, by telephone and electronically.  Information such as a member’s mailing address, Kiawah address, home telephone number, work telephone number, Kiawah telephone number and e-mail address is entered into KICA’s database and property files.  This information is used solely by KICA as a means for contacting its members in the case of an emergency, for billing purposes, for responding to member inquiries or requests, and for informing members of events/island issues that pertain to owners of property on Kiawah.

KICA does not sell its members’ e-mail addresses, or any other personal member information, nor does it make them generally available to the membership or outside agencies.  Occasionally, KICA does release members’ contact information to a neighbor who may be trying to reach you or to town officials for important business.  Please note that the contact information for all KICA committee members is available to other members of that committee for communicating with each other.

Users of the KICA e-mail list should be aware that their e-mail addresses are visible to other members of the e-mail list.  Members who do not wish to have their e-mail addresses seen by others should not participate in this forum.

KICA’s website does provide links to other Kiawah and non-Kiawah websites.  KICA cannot be held responsible for another agency’s misuse of a member’s personal information when that member has left the KICA website by clicking on one of the links.

Special Notices

Occasionally, KICA will send its members information on upcoming events and important island issues.  These notices are solely for KICA’s use in communicating with its members.  When volunteers are needed or when members’ input is requested, KICA will use e-mail and/or postal addresses to contact its members.
